Manage a link

How it works

  1. Paste a link, or choose "Link page" to put several links behind one address.
  2. Choose the options you need: a custom alias, a QR code, an expiration date, a click limit or a password.
  3. Save your private key. There is no account: the key is the only way to change, measure or delete the link later, from "Manage a link".

Ideas: one QR code for your café or shop · a link in bio page · links for events · one-time and password protected links · Wi-Fi and contact QR codes

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Link for You has no ads, no paid plans and no account. Google Analytics is only used if you accept it, to count visits and how the tools are used (never your links or keys).

What happens if I lose the key?

The link keeps working, but it can not be changed or deleted any more. We can not recover keys: only a one-way hash of each key is stored. That is why the page asks you to copy or download it, and to confirm before leaving if you did not.

How long do the links last?

Links without an expiration date stay active while Link for You runs. You can also give a link an expiration date or a click limit, and links that break the terms of use are disabled.

Can I change where a short link goes?

No, on purpose: a link that changes its destination after being shared is a common phishing trick. You can change its QR code, expiration date, click limit and password. If the content behind a printed QR code has to change, create a link page: its links can be changed at any time.

Are the links safe?

Every destination is checked with Google Safe Browsing when the link is created and every day after that, some destinations are not allowed (other link shorteners, IP loggers, addresses with an IP instead of a name), and anyone can report a link. No check is perfect: if you find a link that should not be here, report it.

What data do you keep?

The links and their options, and the visits to each link as totals per day, hour, country, referring website and way of arrival, without data about each visitor. No name or email: there is no account. The details are in the privacy policy.

Is there a browser extension?

Yes: Web Swiss Knife, a Chrome extension by JavocSoft, shortens the page you are on with Link for You.

Who is behind Link for You?

Link for You is made in Spain by JavocSoft. You can check that the service is working on its status page and write through the contact page.
